Australia’s first inland settlement, a rich history is evident going back to settlement, convicts and the gold rush days.

Home to the Wiradjuri people, Bathurst boasts a city population of around 30,500 and over 40,000 if you include the Bathurst Region. Bathurst is still one of the fastest growing inland cities in NSW.

Mount Panorama is one of our feature landmarks, and the circuit is a home to one of the biggest motor races in the country – with world class appeal. A public road when not raced on, Mount Panorama is an exciting place to lap, even at the speed limit.

The district is scattered with reserves including the enormous Kanangra Boyd National Park and impressive Evans Crown – from where surveyor Evans first sighted the Bathurst plains. Magnificent Jenolan Caves and the spectacular Abercrombie Caves preserve some of Australia’s most impressive limestone formations. Jenolan is surrounded by a pristine, heritage listed nature reserve and is one of the oldest cave systems in the world.

Bathurst provides a wide range of education opportunities from pre-school, primary, secondary through to tertiary, adults and community, and special education facilities.

School age students may also find more specialised opportunities through Scots College, All Saints College, St Stanislaus’ College, MacKillop College.

Charles Sturt University campus is highly regarded and provides a broad curriculum. Bathurst is spoilt with choices!
